Dr. Richard Rauck
Dr. Rauck is the medical director for The Center for Clinical Research and practices pain management at Carolinas Pain Institute. He is board certified in pain medicine and anesthesiology and is actively engaged in clinical research in pain medicine, speaks frequently at many national and international professional meetings, and has an active clinical practice in pain management.

Dr. James North
Dr. James North is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine, and has expertise in ketamine therapy, advanced interventional pain therapies, and neuromodulation, with a specialization in complex spinal cord stimulation cases. He joined Carolinas Pain Institute in 2005 and is the medial director for The Center for Clinical Research, serving as primary investigator on dozens of pain research studies. Dr. North serves on the board of the Pain Society of the Carolinas and the Sceptor Pain Foundation and is a member of the World Institute of Pain. In 2014, he was recognized as a Top Doctor in Pain Management by his peers. A sincere bedside manner and youthful energy are among his best attributes.

Dr. Christopher Gilmore
Dr. Christopher A. Gilmore is a pain physician at The Center for Clinical Research and Carolinas Pain Institute and is a clinical assistant professor at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He actively participates in the training of anesthesia residents and fellows and is well-versed in medication management, interventional techniques, peripheral nerve and spinal cord stimulation, and intrathecal drug delivery. Dr. Gilmore is best known for his breadth of knowledge, engaging personality, and reassuring bedside manner, all of which enable him to effectively maintain trusting physician-patient relationships.

Dr. Leonardo Kapural
Dr. Leonardo Kapural is a pain physician at The Center for Clinical Research and Carolinas Pain Institute. He is also a clinical adjunct faculty of anesthesiology at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Dr. Kapural’s interests include peripheral nerve stimulation, spinal cord stimulation, discogenic low back pain, and visceral abdominal pain.
He served as director-at-large of the American Academy of Pain Medicine and is currently director-at-large of both the North American and International Neuromodulation societies. Dr. Kapural’s innovation in the area of pain treatments brought him two Innovator Awards and his noteworthy research findings have been published in more than 130 journal articles, more than 200 abstracts, two books, and 30 book chapters. He is listed by his peers in the “Best Doctors in America” list.
